The sketches explore how the character’s emotion is expressed through its motion, including motion type, motion attitude, and intent.  In those sketches, all emotion is indicated through how the character moves its body and where the movement ends. The sequence sketches also explore the quality of an expressive motion. The sketches were also estimated as a framework for a 3D motion capture task. The sketches begin with careful consideration of three important parameters of a complete motion.

In the four-drawing experiment, the sketches sought to determine how the curve of the motion could help the character accelerate the emotion. The sketches paid particular attention to the fine line features of a motion. That moving fine line feature could help a character brew, explode, and release some emotions. For example, a straight line may indicate direct intent and a clear goal, while a curved line may better help the character accumulate emotion. A zigzag line could catch more attention.
